But prior to the development of digital technologies one could model an alternative reality only with the help of the combined shots. Pavel Klushantsev, the soviet director, was the first man in the world to combine the popular science films with the science fiction movies. During his visit to Moscow in the perestroika period George Lucas asked to organize him a meeting with Pavel Klushantsev. As it turned out, the officials didn’t even know who he was. Lucas described him as the godfather of the Star Wars.
