The film tells about events that were unknown to majority of the people. In the summer of 1939 Soviet army was fighting with the Japanese on the Mongolian border. Testimonies of those who participated in those battles explain things that were hushed by Soviet historians. Intrigues of the commanding officers, deceits and denunciations of Soviet generals, secret orders and obvious controversies – all this now can be found only in the words of those few left who took part in Halhin Gol operation. Sensational archive footage was on the secrecy list since 1940 and is revealed only in this documentary.
